Welcome to the new online home of PMR and hope you are enjoying the redesigned site. Take a few minutes to check it out and be sure to come back regularly as we will be updating it throughout the season.

Everyone at PMR has been busy over the off-season and we expect the 2010 season to be an exciting one for fans. The plane is lighter and stronger! It has been a long off-season and we are eager to get back racing again.

Work on the EDGE 540 has been the focus on the off-season with the focus on closing the performance gap against other teams with the entire race plane being considered. While budget and time constraints have limited the modifications, it is confirmed that items of power, weight, and aerodynamics are all being addressed.

PMR doesn’t expect to have the fastest plane in 2010, but the gap will close. We are all looking forward to pre-season training and testing in late February so we can see some results. PMR will race 841MP in Abu Dhabi, the same Edge 540 raced in all six races of 2009.

Stay tuned for details. MAX POWER!

Pete Represents Canada at One Young World

Pete McLeod joined the next generation of world leaders from around the globe at the inaugural One Young World Summit in London, England on February 8-10, 2010.

One Young World is a global non-profit organization committed to providing a platform to raise the voice of the next generation of world leaders, and help young people throughout the world stimulate a discourse on today's global issues. Kofi Annan, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Bob Geldof are among the counsellors overseeing and facilitating the 2010 Summit.

“I’m passionate about my belief that young people have great potential and should not wait to achieve at a high-level” said McLeod as he prepares for the Summit from his London, Ontario home. “Having the opportunity to represent Canada at a global summit is a responsibility I’m not taking lightly. I’m looking forward with excitement to working with delegates from around the globe,” McLeod added.

McLeod, a graduate of the University of Western Ontario has gained valuable global experience and perspective representing Canada on the international stage while competing in the Red Bull Air Race Championship. The summit consists of six plenary sessions, each discussing and debating a major global topic such as global health, media, religion, the environment and global business. Sessions will review draft resolutions that will be voted upon, adopted, then formally announced.

One Young World summits will be held every year in a different location, and be attended by new delegates and counsellors each year.

Oh Canada! Back to Windsor in 2010

The Red Bull Air Race World Championship will return to Windsor, Ontario in 2010 after the Canadian city hosted one of the most exciting races in the sport’s history last year. 15 of the world’s best race pilots will be battling it out on 5-6 June at the 4th stop in the 9-race championship. A 2-year agreement means that Windsor will also be a fixture in the 2011 season.“

We’re really excited to be returning to Windsor, Ontario and continuing the partnership for the next two years,” said Red Bull Air Race CEO Bernd Loidl, “It’s a great venue in an exciting city and last year’s race there was a huge success. The enthusiasm for the Red Bull Air Race in Windsor is just tremendous. It feels like all of Canada is behind the race.”

The 2009 Windsor race also gave an important boost to the economy of Ontario, Canada’s most populous province. Ontario’s Minister of Finance, Dwight Duncan emphasized the economic activity generated by the race and highlighted that it gave the entire region a “psychological lift.”

“Last year’s event was not just an economic shot in the arm for Windsor. The excitement of the race was plainly seen not only by the people of Windsor but also the hundreds of thousands of viewers from around the world who tuned in to watch the race,” said Duncan. “Our government is pleased to work with Red Bull Air Race and the City in order to bring the race back to Windsor.”

“This is a great coup for our city. Windsor will be joining a select group of major international cities to host the Red Bull Air Race again in 2010,” added Ontario’s Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Sandra Pupatello. “We look forward to welcoming this unique event and the economic boost it will provide to our region.”
