Pete McLeod joined the next generation of world leaders from around the globe at the inaugural One Young World Summit in London, England on February 8-10, 2010.
One Young World is a global non-profit organization committed to providing a platform to raise the voice of the next generation of world leaders, and help young people throughout the world stimulate a discourse on today's global issues. Kofi Annan, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Bob Geldof are among the counsellors overseeing and facilitating the 2010 Summit.
“I’m passionate about my belief that young people have great potential and should not wait to achieve at a high-level” said McLeod as he prepares for the Summit from his London, Ontario home. “Having the opportunity to represent Canada at a global summit is a responsibility I’m not taking lightly. I’m looking forward with excitement to working with delegates from around the globe,” McLeod added.
McLeod, a graduate of the University of Western Ontario has gained valuable global experience and perspective representing Canada on the international stage while competing in the Red Bull Air Race Championship. The summit consists of six plenary sessions, each discussing and debating a major global topic such as global health, media, religion, the environment and global business. Sessions will review draft resolutions that will be voted upon, adopted, then formally announced.
One Young World summits will be held every year in a different location, and be attended by new delegates and counsellors each year.
