
McLeod took a break from his pre-season race preparations to serve as the honourary chair of the Toronto District School Board’s technological skills competition. “Pete is an exceptional role model for our students and someone they can relate to,” says Carmen Camuti the program coordinator of experiential learning for the Toronto District School Board.
Students competing in the competition were vying to earn the right to represent the Toronto District at the provincial skills competition taking place this May in Waterloo Ontario. Students competed in various competitions including automobile servicing, precision machining, graphic design, robotics and carpentry.
“I’m passionate about my belief that young people have great potential and should not wait to achieve big things,” said McLeod as he met with students competing in the competition. “I am honoured to assist the technological education skills teams in their pursuit of competition, success and learning,” added McLeod.
Pete, a graduate of Red Lake District High School and the University of Western Ontario enjoyed meeting the students while overseeing the competitions at Central Technical School in downtown Toronto.
Pete and his team are currently making final preparations for the season opening race in Abu Dhabi and will be onsite in Abu Dhabi by March 17 for training and test flights.
